If this guy didn't tie off all the vessels he should have, then he got lazy or sloppy, yes, that is malpractice.

Sorry, you seem to be apologizing for sloppy care. It's not acceptable, and yes, they should have pressed charges. But don't worry, your colleauge won't get his license taken away. They never do.

Dr. K:

You are absolutely right, NO ONE IS PERFECT! However, vets must spell out the risks when a pet goes under the knife. Not just "Well, there are risks with any surgery, but your pet is fairly healthy. . ." The diplomate surgeon sounded so confident and reassuring that it never entered my mind that my little companion could die 3 days after his release from the surgeon. No prognosis was given to me on his release either. The surgeon mailed it to the referring vets who in turn never followed up on my companion soul. I am wondering why. . .

I was in the DARK for months after his death. These vets wouldn't even talk to me on the phone. Embarrased? No answers? I don't know. Well, I did a lot of researching, and I got second opinions. . . I now have the answers that these vets refused to tell me. . . DO I WANT TO SUE THESE VETS? ABSOLUTELY! I am in the process. . .

Do I want to sue these vets? Absolutely

I hate to say it, but your blog just seems to be a moan and groan session for you!! I have read a few of your blogs, including this one and all you do is the "poor me" thing. You should have been glad to testify for this new doctor! To show that, yes it's sad, but yes, it happens. Stop the moaning and groaning and put something valuable on here!! Your life isn't so bad and it would be quite nice if you stopped acting as though it was. People out here have lives of real struggles and pain!! Quit your whining and act like the professional you are!!!

It's a fact of life that any time you go in for surgery, there is always risk, and I very much agree with Dr. Khuly on the issue. Of course it's best that the vet fully outline these risks to the clients, and maybe the vet should have triple tied those vessels to be more sure, and if the animal still died, at least he could say that he took every precaution. As far as people claiming Dr. Khuly is just complaining about her life as a vet all the time, I suggest they shut their mouths unless they're veterinarians and have been working in the field for 10+ years, then maybe they'd know how the career and life of a vet works.
