Actually pregnant. Confirmed by lots of little baby skulls and spines on an X-ray.

Oh yes, this does happen. I've known a few cases at among dog folk. In human medicine, as a post vasectomy exam, we explain that they need to come in after so many weeks and leave a fresh deposit at the lab so we can do a motility exam. I have seen some intact nonswimmers a month after a vasectomy procedure. At least for the human males, we can explain that 'flushing' frequently (or use of condoms) may get them back into the sport more quickly, as the follow up exam may be more likely to give a green light.
