I call Halloween Drive the Dogs Insane Night.
This year, I took the window out of the storm door and latched the door so it could not open. My dogs are small enough to not be able to jump out at that height. It was warm enough to leave open the wooden door. So if anyone got close to our front walk, the dog alarm when offf. Both of my dogs are mostly black. I think it was rather a mean trick to be greated by two very enthusiastic barkers, the deep basset bay and the belgian waffle's higher bark (belgian shepard/bordercollie mix). I'd walk in between them with the bowl of candy and wait for them to get the courage to approach. Then I'd pass out candy. I call it Trick and Treat. :)

When I lived in Philadelphia in a decidedly unsafe, ungentrified neighborhood near the University (where else do poor students live?) Halloween was a very scary night. "Kids" (the big variety) would bang on the door demanding candy (I give them the benefit of the doubt). My two boxers (without whom I'd never have survived Philly) would pounce on the door from the inside. With each passing year fewer and fewer "trick or treaters" would stop by. I loved those dogs.

I had visited this picture and post some time ago but only today, while searching on "chocolate' toxicity did I notice your eyes. Awesome Photoshop job...wow really scary!! How's Sadie. I love those 'lil bug eyed doggys.
