What about itchy doggy syndrome? My poor baby has inhalent allergies and takes steriods. I hate to seen him itching and biting. It must be so irritating.

Could diet help, or maybe some fish oil or something? Dilute Dobermans (fawns and blues) often suffer from CDA - color dilution alopecia - and keeping the hair folicules clean is what helped my boy keep staph away, he did have hair thinning, but no bumps, raw patches or anything of the sort.

I don't have cats so I know nothing about them.

Diet certainly helps in both cats and dogs. Fatty acids have been proven helpful in many studies. But the true psychogenic alopecic cat does not markedly improve with the addition of fatty acids to the diet as the brain chemistry is considered to be the most significant issue. The effects on the skin are only a manifestation of the brain disease.

Oh yes he gets his fatty acids. It makes his coat beutiful but doesn't help with the itching. He does not have a food allergy we tried all the wierd stinky foods now he just eats nutro. It is grass pollen and oak pollen and who knows what else.
