Congratulations to your sister. And you should be a film critic. I totally agree with you about Michael Moore's films. "Bowling for Columbine" is the last of his films I watched. I was so incensed at the pointless chasing of Charlton Heston, I can't take his work seriously. And I'm of the anti-hand gun persuasion!

One that often happens to vets in the UK is clients REALLY resenting the amount of money they have to pay for their sick pet, because they don't have to pay for their own healthcare (and therefore have no idea of what it costs). But I am so glad to have our (human) healthcare system, although it isn't perfect, it seems a lot more compassionate.

Is there a US equivalent of the UK charity People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA)? It gives free veterinary treatment, for owners who can prove that they're earning below a certain income level (I know that it includes the unemployed and those on a state pension, other than that I'm not sure how wide-ranging it is), it raises money by public campaigns etc. I think it's great, sometimes when you're below the poverty line is the time you need animal companionship most.

Congrads to your sister -that is quite awesome. As a hobby doc maker (you can see little bits of my short Doc The Musician Physician playing on channel 2 in Miami.) I have to agree with you on Sicko. I have no issue on the stories with the people who were not covered and I would have delved more into that -that is the evil issue. By making all these comparisons with other countries and bringing in the universal health care angle it diluted the issue. It doesn't address people who go to the er as their personal physicians and other abuses by patients thus driving up the cost of our health care. I could go on but the point is here.
Many Veterinarians I know do things on the side to help. In fact I really do not a profession as kind hearted and giving as the veterinarians.
you guys do your share everyday. Happily and without asking for accolades

Cyndi: I'll be looking for your film. As I like to say, the difference between a hobby filmmaker and a feature filmmaker often comes down to a mere few hundred thousand dollars.
