Though we know a judge has heard our pleas and remanded Vick into the hands of our penal system (for what’s been deemed a [relatively] harsh 23 months), it’s clear that jail time will never be enough for some Vick-haters out there. And I won’t argue with them.
While we could go on at length debating whether Vick’s comeuppance is complete, one thing is certain:
These 23 months were brought to you in part by…you.
To that end, I’d like to treat you to a sampling of what the Web has to offer by way of some entertaining Vick-bashing devised by creative bloggers, cartoonists and T-Shirt designers:
SackVick.org offers this one (on a T-shirt if you'd like):

SackVick.net offers even more. Here's a CafePress T-shirt for you or your pooch:

Then there's the occasional rant blogger who offers up a harsh pic:

This one's a little more to the point (by NeuterSickVick.com):

Here's a more sedate version prepared by an editorial cartoonist:

This one's more subtle, though the site offers up this T-shirt with the byline, " Behind every big dawg is an even bigger bitch." (Not so subtle.):

But I think this one's cute:

And here's my personal favorite cartoon by Glenn McCoy:

And another timely T:

While this post may strike you as gratuitous and exploitative (I'll accept that), 23 months is only two years--and I need a little something more than that. Ridiculing an easy target just makes me feel better, what can I say? I'm just a pit-loving Vick-basher, too.

Vick and co. still have state charges to deal with, and there has been no plea bargain with the state.

While I too love pitties and hate people that commit acts of animal cruelty, I have to commend the justice system for the sentance. If it sticks, I cannot think of anyone that has received this long of a sentance for animal cruelty. (Mind you I am in Canada and am not familiar with American law.) I have to think that most of this sentance is to punish Vick more for taking part in a gambling operation than participating in cruelty against innocent dogs. I hope Vick is not just being used as an example because of his celebrity status, but that he is just the first of many animal abusers brought to justice. Regardless, I am pleased and I can only hope that this sad situation serves to shed more light on not only dog figting but ALL animal cruelty. Now, if only some of those puppy mill owners would receive similar sentances... then I would be VERY happy!

Just 23 months? People do less time that that for killing other humans. I think the punishment was pretty strong, and hopefully it will serve as a deterrent to others. And lets not forget the fact that it has also cost him his career (literally 100's of millions of dollars).

I have no problem thinking that this crime will cost him his career. People that abuse animals rarely stop with 4 legged creatures.
