I look forward to the show & thank goodness it is not on cable! Thank you for permission to post Dr. K, we all know that you are the messenger and we appreciate your free speech forum!

Back in '96, I had a Scottie that was difficult to diagnose with his Transitional Cell Carcinoma. He had the appearance of "perfect" health, very active, beautiful thick black coat, etc. His one intermittent symptom was occassional straining to urinate. His only abnormal finding was an enlarged prostate & elevated alkaline phosphatase (1600). After nearly 9 months of testing, suggested treatments, an ultrasound determined inoperable TCC. The note written at the bottom, by the specialist, was: try piroxicam.

We were given the bad news on Dec. 13, 1996, that he may live 3-4 months. The Vet did not know what "piroxicam" was. It is a NSAID. Purdue has completed a few funded studies by the national breed club, including statistics, that say Scottish Terriers are 18x more likely to get this cancer.

I posted a web site called Mack's Story to give information & support to those that found me. Mack lived a wonderful 25 months, post diagnosis. This was at a time, when the web was not as full of information, particularly technical.

The web site came down when the server host went belly-up. I met people all over the country and world & corresponded with them in any fashion they chose, whether a few questions, or emotional support, and sometimes post-grief. It was totally up to them. And I have friends to this day, that I either have met in person or not, that I stay in contact with.

Thanks Doc! We really appreciate you sharing this news with your readers. And thank you for the wonderful comments about Jerry's web site.

When we had to let him go, many of our members asked if we would keep the website going. We quickly realized that it was Jerry's legacy for us to maintain the online community we started for people facing cancer and/or amputation in their dog ... now there are more than 400 members sharing their own canine cancer stories and advice at http://www.tripawds.com/forums

To say it is an honor that PBS chose to sharte our story is an understatement. And now we are honored to be considered Dolittler BFFs!

My own "baby" (or babies, as the case may be) is at http://dogs.katzke.net -- I'm a bit of an "absent minded professor" type, and if I don't make it a point to keep writing and thinking about my fur-kids, I'm prone to forget other important things. Like training and exercising. (They won't let me forget feeding...)

Jim and Rene are my heros-of-the-day for the attention they've managed to bring to skeletal and joint problems. Eowyn, my first dog (Who I credit for turning me into a human being) has horrible hip dysplasia. As of 2.5 y.o., she has already had two Femoral Head Ostectomy surgeries. I started the blog to document her recovery and progress, but it became even more important when I adopted Henry, who has anxiety problems to an incredible degree after a puppyhood defined by abuse, malnutrition, and neglect. Blogging has helped me to look back and go "Wow!" and to realize how far we've come in just a few short years. And if it helps someone else with their pup's issues or to have confidence that things *will* get better if they just work at it, that's even better!

My blog (http://winnielovesus.blogspot.com) started off as part ode to my corgi Winnie, part a way to stay in touch with my family as I started vet school. I hope that it serves as a guide to people interested in what vet school is like, and try to share interesting things I learn along the way. My fiance is the co-blogger on WLU, and rounds it out with politics, art, and his own adventures.

As for sites I follow regularly (aside from Dolittler of course), that would be Pet Connection, All But One Species, Vet on the Edge, and Dr. Wynn's new blog (http://www.vetnutrition.blogspot.com/). I cruise the VIN forums as often as I can, too.

For my boy, Toonces, The Toonces Project. To tell the story about what happened to him and raise awareness about veterinary malpractice. I plan to add a memorial video this year.

The best page of course is the pictures of him, which show his personality. There are so many more pictures that need to go up.

I plan to update it soon with Maryland's disciplinary records for 2007 and 2008.

One of the sites I visit a few times a day In SAINTS, Senior Animals In Need Today Society, located in British Columbia Canada. It's a rescue for senior and palliative care animals and is an end of life sanctuary. The head of the rescue has a blog and she bares her soul in it. She talks about literally every aspect of rescuing these animals. http://www.saintsrescue.ca/ It's not geared to a specific pet but tells the stories of those that come into care there. It's amazing and can be controversial at times too.

I read a lot of blogs through a feed reader--most don't post regularly or don't have content that brings me over too much after a scan.

My favorites--uh, yours (I don't always comment), Terrierman, Pet Connection, Wildcast, Bird Chick, and a few odds and ends depending on the content.

I run quite a few animal blogs but you can find me bloggin at the main one, Ark Animals.

Thank you for the opportunity. All of our pets are on Dogster and Catster, which we really like because these are like the pet lovers' version of Facebook or My Space. You can blog, have forums, join groups, interact with people interested in a particular breed or issue, get review of pet products and foods, and find out about the laltest on food recalls and other items of concern. The memorial to our beloved Smokey, who died as a result of veterinary errors, is at http://www.catster.com/cats/931385. You can link to our other pets sites from Smokey's site in the "meet my family" section.

Over at www.championofmyheart.com, I chronicle life with a VERY fearful border collie. I write about other pet things too, but mostly it's a way to let people know how rewarding it can be to help a truly fearful dog find confidence and happiness. It's hard work, but very rewarding.

Years ago I compiled a website of tips and advice for people dealing with biting problems in their ferret.  It's low tech but people are still using it.  At the time when I wrote it, it was considered verboten in the ferret world to admit that yes, gasp, some ferrets do bite.  Ferrets have always had enough bad PR that it was considered a very serious issue.  Hence my somewhat euphemistic title of "Problem" Ferrets and the People Who Love Them.  The site grew out of my experience with a serious fear biter, Cully, and my frustration with the lack of resources out there to deal with training him out of the biting.  Cully did eventually learn that I could be trusted and stopped biting me, and largely stopped biting my husband after a pretty rough transition period.  I never could fully trust him with strangers, though.

I have many sites but mostly the loves of my life can be seen at www.cmastini.com and my love of the breed can be seen at my educational site www.everythingneo.com and my blog for  my other loves (my clients) and life at www.friendlygrove.com/Notes.  (I have no idea how to make those links on this blog )

I love to visit when time permits at minimum daily: this blog, Worms and Germs, Vet on Edge, Bark n Blog, Endangered Owner and others when time permits.

My Service Dog In Training has his own website. I'm documenting not just his training, but also his life and the lives of the rest of the Hungry Hairy Horde.

I come here almost every day. I've tried a few others but quickly burned out on the commercialism. This blog feels more "real" because of the lack of commercials and ads.

Oh, Mike's site is
