VIRTUAL VET HOSPITAL

My almost two year old Lab/Pit mix started shaking her head today.  Not a convulsion shake but the normal head shake.  But alot of shaking and she is holding the right side of her down a bit.  Kinda lopsided.  We rinsed her ear and do not see anything.  I know it is bothering her.  Any advise?

Call your vet and get it looked at. Early treatment can head off trouble.

Vet's gotta look inside, probably take a sample of the smooshy gook in there, look at it under a microscope and/or submit a culture. Holding head to the side? That's usually because it hurts. Consider it an urgent-care case. To the vet Monday morning.

It has been a long evening but we are home and my dog is on the mend. It was a 275.00 foxtail that puctured her ear drum. The vet said it will heal and handed me the removed foxtail. Thought about posting a picture of it, maybe tomorrow. The vet also said that the foxtail had not been in her ear that long.
My regular vet could not get us in this evening so we ended up at Bear Valley Animal Hospital in Apple Valley, Ca. We were in and out within 2 hours and that included sedation, removal, both ears flushed and medication. If she heals well with no problems the camping trip to Lake Tahoe is still on and I am thinking about changing vets.
Thanks for all the help.
